State airport bill eyed by New Mexico senator

Sen. Jim Bruin opposes SB150 proposing a five member state airport authority with eminent domain over all airports including Roswell Municipal Airport. Fletcher Named to Commission

Santa Fe Rosco Rusty Fletcher was appointed Chaves County commissioner by Gov. David Cargo on Monday. He is a Republican farmer and livestock feeder from Dexter, in partnership with his brother. Fletcher said he aims to help the people of Chaves County and contribute to the office. His wife and daughter accompanied him as guests on the speaker's rostrum, and Fletcher’s daughter Helen and nieces Evelyn and Elaine Fletcher served as pages in the House.

Indian Police Training Program to Start in Roswell

Interior Secretary Hickel announced a pilot training program for policemen serving Indian areas in Roswell New Mexico. The first class of 40 begins March 2 for nine weeks at the Bureau of Indian Affairs Roswell Employment Training Center under a $40 000 contract with Okol Chemical Corp. The Indian Police Service has about 550 officers serving 280 000 Indians on 83 reservations.
