Johnny Owen of 604 W Second St recounts waking to a break in and facing two intruders in his office. He restrained himself until police arrived, finding a 14-year-old with a small stash and $2 cash, nearly killing the youths in a split-second decision. He urges parents to know their teenagers and their whereabouts.
Three people were admitted to St Marys hospital after a one vehicle accident southeast of Dexter on NM 190. Driver Arthur Dollar and passengers Donald Mason and Mrs Willie Dollar were injured. Mason in critical condition with a neck injury.
The New Mexico Senate approved an amended general appropriations bill late Saturday, cutting 490 200 from 368 million and narrowing House Senate disputes to higher education reporting. The session resumes Sunday to settle funds for state government and public schools, while a separate feed bill funds the session with up to 78 500.
