Roswell Modular Homes Plant to Hire Hundreds

A large idle Roswell facility is being revived by BillWise Structures producing modular home components. The plant, now active after years of vacancy, is expected to employ over 200 workers soon and potentially many more as financing progresses. Migrant unlawfully in United States arrested in Roswell

A 41 year old undocumented migrant, Christian Dominguez Garcia, was arrested after fleeing authorities and taking refuge inside a downtown Roswell building. He faces a charge of unlawful entry and will appear Tuesday in federal court in Las Cruces.

City Council Rejects 2 Percent Savings Fund Plan

Councilors opposed a plan requiring general fund departments to reserve 2 percent of allocations for flood losses and debt. The proposal, pushed by Councilor Robert Corn, was defeated by a narrow 3-2 vote after a Feb. 6 Finance Committee meeting and review of department revenue and expenditures.

Chaves County Courthouse Locked Down After Bomb Threats

A Friday lockdown at the Chaves County Courthouse began around 9 a.m. after a threatening call chain allegedly linked to Jeffrey Diaz of Roswell. Diaz is also accused of calling in bomb threats to Albuquerque Public Schools and City Hall and to government buildings in Las Cruces and Texas. Employees and the public sheltered in place for about ninety minutes.
