Aggident on Hopkins torpedo boat fires men in blast
San Diego February 14 seven men badly burned and two possibly fatally by a boiler tube explosion in the forward fire room of the torpedo boat destroyer Hopkins this morning. Three men were burned in a heroic effort to rescue others. Injured include R E Taylor J F Hent E A Clary W A Neabe G S McNerlin T J Brown B A Carletille. Taylor and Carletille may not survive. Explosion occurred half an hour before Hopkins sailed for San Pedro.
