Bus overturns on snow packed NM road no injuries

Sunday liquor sales win Senate approval in New Mexico
The New Mexico Senate passed a compromise Sunday liquor sales bill 22 to 20 after two hours of debate overriding a plea for Sunday as a holy day. The bill allows sales 1 01 p m to midnight if a local board adopts the option and permits a referendum to overturn it. A 15 percent tax on Sunday liquor gross receipts was added in a surprise move.

Two Killed In Mishap On Highway
A Roswell man and a Mountainair man died after their car left US 380 west of Carrizozo, overturned several times and threw them from the vehicle. James Davis, 24, of 722 S Sunset, and Michael McKinley, 20, of Mountainair, died of head and internal injuries. Both were employed by the state highway department on the Nogal paving project and had been staying in Capitan. The wreck occurred about an hour before 10 p.m. and the car was found by a passing motorist. The driver could not be determined. The crash was the Carrizozo area’s first fatal accident in four years.
