Man pleads guilty in 2014 violent home invasion case

Kenneth Whiteside pleas guilty to criminal sexual penetration a serious violent offense and other felonies from a 2014 home invasion in which a 40-year-old woman was raped stabbed and beaten. Judge Riggs noted life parole potential and lifetime sex offender status with limited deductions. Sentencing date pending.

Central Valley Electric publicizes youth government tour and events

Central Valley Electric Cooperative in Artesia outlines a busy year with a Government in Action Youth Tour for members' children from Chaves and Eddy Counties. Five students will join trips starting in Santa Fe in June before traveling to Washington DC, with participants from Roswell Hagerman Dexter and Artesia high schools.
