Dr. Robert T. Smith wins a six year term on the Roswell School Board by a landslide margin. His wife Sue congratulates him with a kiss on the forehead as their children Mellisa Anne and Robert T. Smith II sit nearby. A record 4,105 voters cast ballots on Tuesday.
Roswell dentist Dr. Robert T. Smith won a six year seat on the Roswell Independent School District board with 2,811 votes to Raymond Mitcham's 1,117 and Mrs. Robert C. Shanks's 176. The 4,105 votes set a turnout record, with Smith carrying all but Pecos precinct. Smith pledged new direction for the district and will be sworn in March 4.

Cleveland Tennessee AP report says Guy Crowder's pigpen was stolen while the pigs, worth about 400 dollars, were later found in nearby woods. The wire fence, valued at 45 dollars, was also taken. Crowder called the act unusual for stealing the wire and leaving the livestock.
