Lawmakers push repeal of seven day firearm waiting period
Southeast New Mexico legislators introduced House Bill 162 to end the seven day waiting period before firearm transfers. The bill, co sponsored by twenty Republicans, references exemptions for law enforcement and family transfers and would revert to the federal three day standard. Supporters cite cooling off periods for preventing harm while critics say it restricts rights.
