Las Cruces Firemen Call In Sick Amid Walkout

Fifteen firemen and three lieutenants in Las Cruces called in sick as part of a police walkout today. Officials did not know how many of the 29 off duty firemen would join the protest. President Ford said the Supreme Court abortion ruling went too far and that states should decide the issue.

Roswell seeks state aid for storm drainage and aging needs

Roswell plans storm drainage relief with a possible 75 to 25 matching fund. Senator Thompson notes no bond issue required if state matches funds while Mayor Smith pushes Senate Bill 12 for sewer drainage. Senate Bill 18 targets elderly aid with 18 000 for Chaves County and 32 counties benefit. funds go to nutrition, legal aid, winterization, and home repair.

Baby kidnapped in Albuquerque found safe in Texas

FBI agents arrested Ileen Lowe in Muleshoe Texas for abducting 10 day old John Paul Norris from Albuquerque last Friday. The infant shown to be in good shape with a toe blister. The parents Edward and wife cried with relief as authorities recovered the child and no ransom was paid.
