Legislature Moves Quick On Relief Bill In New Mexico

The New Mexico House passed Senate bill 47 revising the corpora tion franchise tax to expire December 31 1937. Officials expect about 250 000 a year from the tax aiding federal relief funds. The measure heads back to the Senate for concurrence and then to the governor to wire Washington. House leaders warn relief funds could stop if action stalls.

Men Nabbed in Clovis After Bank Robbery Pursuit

Four Texas officers captured Mona Bel alias Raymond McCWiggins and Albert Wallace after a daylong chase into the sand hills near Clovis New Mexico. Bell identified as an escaped Oklahoma convict and linked to a January 16 Buffalo Texas bank robbery. Wallace reportedly not connected. Both waived extradition and will be taken to Centerville Texas.

Hauptmann Not Writer of Notes Says Expert

A defense witness identified photos of a man and woman with a blond baby as Isador Fisch and Violet Sharpe related to the Lindbergh case. Peter Sommer, a fingerprint expert, placed them crossing to Manhattan after 12:40 a.m. on March 2. Court was not held tomorrow. a handwriting expert for Hauptmann disputed eight state experts on authorship of the ransom notes, while the defense disclaimed any contention Fisch wrote them.

Pirates Attack Ship With U S Children Aboard

Hongkong report says pirates killed two Russian guards aboard the Tungchow as it carried 75 American British and Scandinavian schoolchildren. Governor seeks FERA project for capitol grounds

Santa Fe February 1 The governor Clyde Tingley announced plans to request an FERA project for the capitol grounds and surrounding executive mansion. The project would be directed by a landscape engineer to beautify the area by planting grass and shrubs and removing some roads through the grounds.
