Unions Allege Conspiracy to Crush Railroad Brotherhoods

Chicago February 1 A conspiracy to crush the railroad brotherhoods in the effort to drive down wages will be charged before the United States Railroad labor board today by B M Jewell head of the railway employers of the American Federation of Labor who is slated to appear before the board to answer the demands of the railway executives that the national shop agreements be abrogated Jewell also will allege that the rail roads are in financial difficulties because of mismanagement and inefficiency

Special grand jury sworn. indictments in Davisson embezzlement case

The district court met at nine with a special grand jury headed by foreman H. W. Johnson. Twenty two true bills were returned against Ben C. Davisson for embezzlement and unauthorized use of public money. Davisson pled not guilty and the case resumes tomorrow morning. A divorce was granted in Mary R Alvarez vs Manuel Alvarez. The court also hears the case of six destitute children of Joe Gist.

Four Burned to Death in Pennsylvania Freight Wreck

Four men died in a fiery rail crash at Newark Ohio when a freight train collided with a second train on a siding. Three other crew members were seriously injured. The deadly wreck occurred on February 1 as trains operated by the Pennsylvania Railroad collided, killing the four crewmen aboard.
