Freight rate changes mean great saving for western shippers
Edward Chambers vice president of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe testified before the Interstate Commerce Commission on freight rate changes since August 1920. He pinned anticipated savings at 82.5 million dollars per year from reduced rates on grain and related products, offset by losses to western railroads. He supported targeted reductions on key agricultural commodities and noted widespread downward adjustments in individual freight rates despite no big changes in freight or passenger fares.
