Girlfriend in Walmart shooting pleads not guilty to tampering
Zayleen Thyberg, 22, pleaded not guilty in New Mexico's 5th Judicial District Court to one count of tampering with evidence. Prosecutors say she took a gun from her boyfriend amid the Roswell Walmart shooting that left 19-year-old Steve Soltero dead. Thyberg faces up to three years and a $5,000 fine. she is out on $5,000 bond awaiting trial.

New Mexico taps Jon Clark to lead 49B state savings fund
Albuquerque native Jon Clark, a former economist to the Legislature, was named state investment officer over New Mexico’s 49 billion dollar nest egg built from petroleum on state lands. The 11 member Investment Council chaired by Gov. Grisham selected him after a nationwide search with over 80 applicants. Clark had risen to acting cabinet secretary at the Economic Development Department in 2024.
