Louis N. Megargee, a well known Philadelphia newspaper man and writer, died at his Marbeth home today from pneumonia. He was fifty years old.
Miss Fannie Wallace of Chattanooga Tenn arrived in Roswell last Saturday night and will soon depart for Carlsbad to visit sister Mrs Richard Thorne. Wallace formerly resided here and has many warm friends in Roswell who are glad to see her. She is a guest of Mrs Charles Norvell.
In Freehold New Jersey a Pennsylvania railroad freight struck the Avon basketball team's coach after a game and Christmas celebration. One player John Benneman of Albany Park was killed and two others fatally injured while four more suffered skull fractures.
El Paso Texas December 26 Howard Chenoweth under a fifty year sentence for killing City Marshal Killburn at Silver City New Mexico was rescued by masked men last night who held up the jailer and locked him in Chenoweths cell
Albert F. Martin and Miss Laura Pudd of Artesia were married at 10:45 Sunday morning at the Southern M. E. parsonage by Rev. R. Twitty. The Social Circle meets Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. L. B. Tannehill.
