Troops Quell Newport Disturbances as Steel Strike Spreads

State guardsmen arrived in Newport Kentucky to restore order after a steel workers strike. Four companies of the guardsmen were dispatched following a request to Governor Morrow from Newport and Covington citizens. In Austin Governor Neff planned to grant pardons to twenty convicts by Christmas, not yet announced.
