Sugar Refining Company to Pay 700000 in Settlement

New York December 24 The American Sugar Refining Company will shortly hand the government a check for seven hundred thousand dollars in settlement for further customs frauds according to the Herald. The total amount recovered from the company is nearly three million dollars. The latest settlement relates to the drawback frauds investigated since the original customs frauds were detected two years ago.

Engineers Reach Wage Settlement in Chicago Area

Chicago officials report no railroad engineer strike north south or west of Chicago. The Erdman law mediated talks between railroad managers engineers and Labor Commissioner Neill yield a ten and one third percent wage increase about forty cents a day. A final settlement is anticipated after proposals from both sides.
