A major blaze in Sioux City, Iowa, caused damage estimated at two and a half million dollars. Fire crews battled the flames, with residents evacuated and structural losses reported across several buildings. Emergency officials continue to assess the extent of the damage and determine the cause.
A major blaze destroyed two city blocks in Sioux City Iowa causing heavy losses and at least one death. Fire started in the Pelletter Dry Goods basement with strong winds fanning the flames. Nearby Omaha Council Bluffs and other towns sent apparatus but containment arrived late. Northwestern National Bank and Tribune Building survived.
In Denver four men connected to the revolt in the Philippines were sentenced to four months in jail and fines totaling $100 each plus costs for knowingly and wilfully permitting repeating. C. P Dixon, a precinct 13 ward 3 clerk, drew four months and a $250 fine with costs. Contempt cases from eight precincts remain on the docket but delayed until after holidays. Dilley & Son promote a line of rockers and dining chairs as the city’s finest.
Denver expert L. M. Hanna submitted to the Colorado Supreme Court a report on 311 ballots from Precinct 12 Ward 3 in the recent election. He found 135 ballots written by five people and evidence that many were folded in a way that prevented box placement. The tally also shows discrepancies between the poll book and ballots cast, and warrants were issued against five men for contempt of court.
Teller county cases against Chas H. Moyer and other Western Federation of Miners officers over Cripple Creek strike troubles were moved to Douglas county for trial by Judge Lewis W. Cunningham. The judge ruled a fair trial could not be had in Teller county and reviewed the Cripple Creek labor troubles at length.
A city revival meeting drew many to the altar with fifteen adults praying and thirteen seeking church membership. Evangelist Newsom preached on Judgment and the opened books, urging accountability for personal sins and influence on others while recounting a cautionary tale from his past.

In Denver, three more election officials were jailed by the supreme court for contempt, bringing to thirty the number sentenced for violating the injunction issued before the November election. Judges Isaac Goldman and Edward Sweeney were among those involved as the case moves from eight precincts still to be tried.

City of Roswell through City Attorney Patton sues Lea Cunningham ditch owners in district court seeking an injunction to stop using the ditch through the city until it is tiled cemented or made sanitary. The company has twenty days to answer. A referee may be appointed to hear testimony. The case draws citizen interest.
The district court adjourned today as Judge Pope plans to travel by evening train to Carsbad to address local citizens tomorrow. He then proceeds to Santa Fe where the Supreme Court opens January 4.
