Police recovered a stolen car possibly used by three masked suspects in a $511000 cash heist from a bank truck at a Paterson church rectory. The car, found near the church, had been missing for over a month. Witnesses describe the robbers as white and young looking. Clues included jackets pants and a ski cap found on a nearby road.
A 729th Tactical Air Command detachment of 16 officers and 168 enlisted will move to Walker AFB early in 1965. The plan, approved by the Secretary of the Air Force, aims to integrate control and training across TAC units in the western U S with bases nearby. Senators Anderson Montoya and Rep. Morris were briefed on the move.

Generals Wheeler Johnson LeMay and admirals McDonald Greene and other services joined, aiming to secure requested funding while maintaining leadership in science and technology.
An uncommitted group of 15 to 30 National Committee members met to decide if Dean Burch retains his $30,000 a year post as Republican national chairman. Dr. Donald C. Moyer, president of Eastern New Mexico University, was named Nevada Southern University chancellor. He has led Eastern New Mexico at Portales since July 1960 and will head the University of Nevada Las Vegas four year branch. He accepted the post in a telephone call from Decatur Illinois. He previously served as executive secretary of the New Mexico Board of Educational Finance.
Lt. Gen. Nguyen Khanh cried foul at American demands and pledged military support for Chief of State Sun and Premier Huong after generals purged the High National Council. He warned against foreign intervention and kept the armed forces ready to change governments if needed. United States officials voiced no immediate comment as talks stalled on a stronger South Vietnamese regime and expanded war plans.
New Mexico Supreme Court sustains $7,000 verdict against an Albuquerque physician who refused to correct a report that listed a 13 year old girl as pregnant. The doctor had treated the girl for athlete's foot in 1960 and the school had submitted a routine health questionnaire.
