House approves $633 billion defense bill for 2013
The House passed a $633 billion defense policy bill by 315 to 107, sending it to the Senate. The measure funds base defense, energy programs, and the Afghanistan war, with upgrades to tanks and armored vehicles while sparing popular but outdated weapons. It requires military pay raises and adds 1000 Marines for embassy security, with a veto threat still in play from the White House.
