Liberty and Ellis Islands reopen to tourists
Tourists returned to Liberty Island and Ellis Island as the Statue of Liberty complex reopened for the first time since the September 11 attacks. The first visitors included John Delano and his brother Philip with their father Chip, while security measures and metal detectors were in place and interior access to the statue remains closed for now.
