Washington AP report describes a father dressed as Santa at a Head Start Christmas party. He faced a curious audience of three year olds with a brown mustache and white beard under a skull cap. The children bought the act as cameras flashed and mothers laughed. His own daughter kissed Santa goodbye, promising a return with flying reindeer.
Republican Sen elect Pete Domenici says he supports renewed bombing of North Vietnam hoping for a settlement. Representative Harold Runnels doubts it will hasten peace and calls for clarity on funding. Senators Montoya and Lujan urge caution and a clear road to any agreement as weather turns mild.
John C. Gish says the company’s new plant will provide additional square feet for operations and accommodate new product lines to be added in coming months. The president outlined plans for expansion and future capabilities.
Nu Mex Plastics Inc relocates to a 20 000 square foot plant at 3505 S. Main St Roswell from a 6000 square foot site. The $250 000 facility will start operations by year end adding PVC OVC white pipe and new drain products. Jack Scoles joins as EVP. The firm, already earning about 750 000 annually, expects to double in 1973 with about 20 more employees.
The U S Command reports three more B52 bombers lost with 12 crewmen missing as heavy raids target the Hanoi Haiphong industrial complex. Earlier two B52s were shot down, with six aircraft lost and 27 crewmen missing in the ongoing campaign.
Roswell Industrial Air Center prepares for Detachment 1 of the 22nd Bomber Wing under Strategic Air Command. Col. Denis R. O'Brien says 150 new personnel will arrive between January and mid March as facilities and ground to air communications are expanded. Sergeant Saile Moligan, previously in Vietnam, is among the recent arrivals. No link between aircraft arrivals and the wing's return from Southeast Asia to Holloman AFB.
State lawmakers consider a bill giving county commissioners authority over subdivisions within a five mile radius of townships. Opposition from Roswell and Alamogordo leaders. if county boards reject, the Environmental Improvement Agency would enforce rules.
