New York December 21 Salvatore Spitale was declared to day in a probation office report to have been the moving force behind the assassination years ago of gangster Jack Legs Diamond. The report tied Diamond’s shooting to Spitale and Irving Bitz amid a drug smuggling scheme connected to a $200000 advance for German narcotics shipments. Both intermediaries in the Lindbergh case, Spitale and Bitz allegedly plotted to smuggle narcotics and Diamond’s refusal to repay the money prompted action. Diamond reportedly went to Germany but returned without completing shipments.

Two Hurt In Auto Accident Today
Two persons were injured when two cars collided at 12 30 this afternoon at 8th and Washington. Mrs Perry Bloodworth of Roswell fractured ribs and Mrs Ken Laughlin of Casa Grande Ariz was hurt but not yet known how badly. Laughlin and Bloodworth were driving. both had passengers. Police investigated the crash.
