Plane crash wrecks Royal Dutch liner The Flying Hotel
Iraqi desert crash kills seven aboard the American built Uier pride of Royal Dutch Air Lines. The Flying Hotel disappeared in a desert thunderstorm ten miles south of Rutba Wells. British Royal Air Force planes searched the charred remains. Crew members include Beekman, Kort, Van Steenbergen, Wayn, and C Van Zadethoys. Victims also include Batavia University Watch and Aneta official Beretti. Last radio said it was in difficulty near Rutba Wells after a storm.

Steamer Ontario Fire Burns in Boston Harbor
A coastwise freighter named Ontario caught fire while two miles off Sandwich Massachusetts. Firefighters and tugboats fought the blaze as the ship listed toward Boston harbor. Captain John Kauserud and crew endured smoke and heat while seeking port at Northern Avenue. Several crewmen and firefighters were hospitalized or treated on site. The ship, built in 1904, had previously caught fire in 1912 and 1924.

Washington December 21. A decline of sixthousand workers on industrial payrolls from October to November was reported by Secretary Perkins. Payrolls fell $3,915,000. She called the report very satisfactory given nonmanufacturing gains and light overall fall off. November normally shows a decline. A nine percent rise in agricultural implement manufacture was encouraging. Despite gains in wholesale and retail trade coal mining and banks, total employment reached July 1931 level. October matched March 1931.

Wilson takes life sentence for murder in Texas
Arthur C. Wilson accepted a life sentence for the killing of Mrs. Irene Bebolt, a Cleveland widow, near Van Horn in November 1933. The decision came as a surprise after a bid for a new trial, with Judge W. D. Howe imposing the sentence as Wilson lay ill in the county jail hospital ward.

Two Suspects Arrested for Pick Shooting
Santa Fe sheriff said two suspects have been arrested and turned over to San Miguel county in the fatal shooting of Henry Pick, a Glorieta and Terrero merchant, near Pecos. He would not name the suspects yet and hinted at further arrests as clues develop. Pick was shot while driving to Terrero with 8500 dollars to cash pay checks from the Terrero mine.

Australian on speed flight across U S begins record bid
Charles Kingsford Smith departed Union Air Terminal in Burbank at 4 48 am aiming to set new west to east trans continental speed records. The craft carried 300 gallons of fuel and refueling in Kansas City was planned if time allows before continuing to New York City. Harry Walker accompanied Smith as a longtime friend. The current record is 10 hours 2 minutes 51 seconds set by Col. Roscoe Turner.

Shelbyville Tennessee December 21 AP Floyd Pat Lawes 28 former diner in Shelbyville hospital today from wounds received Wednesday when national guardsmen fired into a crowd as a mob tried to storm the courthouse to reach a negro prisoner. He was the fourth fatality in the outbreak. Sheriff T E Gant returned home under guard and said threats continue while militia protect the county. Deputy Gant said threats persist as officials assess damage from burned national guard trucks and the 150000 courthouse.
