Mrs. Rudyard Kipling, 73, widow of the author, died at her Sussex home after a long illness. Born Caroline Balestier in Brattleboro Vermont, she married Kipling in 1892 in London and lived in Vermont during their honeymoon years while he wrote works like Captain Courageous and the Jungle Books.
