Public backs Carrasco at Roswell ISD meeting
Four people tied to Roswell High School voiced support for Pilar Carrasco a popular RHS vice principal during a Roswell Independent School District board meeting on Tuesday. Superintendent Dr. Ann Lynn McIlroy said she appreciated the speakers remarks but could not confirm Carrascos status. Mona Kirk thanked speakers and said their voices were heard. Carrasco remains out of RHS with no official word from district leadership, as Carrasco expressed gratitude in a Daily Record statement and focus on students efforts at Roswell High.

Haley Farms Now Licensed Pecan Buyer in New Mexico
Haley Farms in Roswell has received a pecan buying license from the New Mexico Department of Agriculture under a state law requiring all in-shell pecan buyers to be licensed. Owner Bruce Haley says the business buys about 200,000 pounds a year and ships nearly a million, with a custom harvest service for non commercial growers. He supports the licensing to curb pecan theft and aid law enforcement and pest control efforts.

Roswell historical marker to honor WW II POW site
A historical marker will be erected in Roswell at Camp Roswell to commemorate the 1942 46 German POW camp. The dedication at 1 30 p m today near Highway 285 and Orchard Park Road is hosted by the Roswell Chamber of Commerce Red Coats and supported by the Roswell Rotary Club, NM Department of Transportation and NM Historical Preservation Division. The marker notes the camp held about 4816 POWs at its peak and operated 1942 to 1946.
