A sensational sale draws crowds from across the country. Shoppers throng the New York Dry Goods Store all day as prices drop in a monster event, with the sale extended to Monday December 24 due to an earlier error.
In Paris this morning crowds filled churches as clergy urged parishioners to attend first masses outside the law. Guards noted participants and issued charges where needed while authorities report most French bishops favored the 1881 law but accepted the Papal decree with reluctance.
Omaha Neb Dec 12 after two days jury finds S E Howell president of the Omaha Coal Exchange guilty with seventy nine others of maintaining a trust under state law. verdicts to be appealed and each defendant to be tried separately with the next case called Monday.
The Ladies Chorus under Miss Rodkey will sing at the Recital and Musicale at the Presbyterian Church Friday night with tickets at Payton's Drug Store. Mrs Haskell and guests Mrs Ellis and Mr Alexander appear via the Woman's Club program, highlighting a leading American entertainer. The event is supported by the Woman's Club and the Presbyterian church activities.
Former Senator Brown of Utah died from a midnight gunshot wound inflicted by Mrs. Anna M. Bradley last Saturday. An inquest will be held at the Emergency Hospital, Bradley may testify, autopsy results to be used as evidence, and her case will move toward grand jury after the inquest.

Jefferson City Mo December 13 Attorney General Hadley reports an agreement with defense counsel in the Missouri suit against Standard Oil and other oil companies. The firms consent to hearing testimony in New York next Tuesday before Commissioner Anthony and will abide by his rules. The defense had previously resisted shorthand testimony and certain commission rulings.
Andrew Carnegie told the National Civic Federation that he opposed a graduated income tax and that the bulk of estates of very wealthy individuals should pass to the state upon the owner’s death. He spoke in New York on December 13.
