Court's Grind Resumed as Territorial Court Opens

Judge Edward A Mann reopened the Territorial Court this morning at Alamo, with Judge William Pope away on his honeymoon. Tomorrow the Federal court opens with U S Attorney resignations and federal marshals arriving. Special Defenders have arrived from Santa Fe to attend the term, and Charles P Downs of the Sixth district visits. LIGHTSHIP IN DISTRESS NEAR NEWPORT

A wireless message reported the Nantucket lightship in distress from a flooded engine room. Newport dispatches noted the lightship was flooded at 2:00 a.m. and preparations were made to send aid. On board were Capt. Jorgensen and others.

Severe desert wind storm hits Southern California

In Los Angeles on December 11 a severe desert wind storm battered Southern California with impacts near a cane like hurricane. Reports say two percent of orange and olive crop was blown from trees and much fruit remaining was bruised and crushed.
