Use of Local Pipelines Could Save $100 Million

In Washington, Transwestern Pipeline Co. argues that expanding existing lines offers over eight years a savings of more than 100 million dollars for Southern California gas consumers. They contend a new 315 million dollar pipeline is unnecessary, citing unused capacity and lower start-up costs of current facilities. The plan targets California gas deliveries at the border with an estimated price around 24 cents per thousand cubic feet.
