German Seamen Reported Trying to Escape Ft Stanton

Grover C. Wilmoth, U.S. immigration director at El Paso, said German seamen interned at Ft Stanton New Mexico have made frequent escape attempts but denied any escapes. Officials withheld further comments on unconfirmed reports of five men escaping and being recaptured. About 400 German seamen were interned after the scuttling of the liner Columbus.

Extra Guard For City Water Plant

Funeral for Roy I. Lockhead in Phoenix Friday

Roy I. Lockhead, a former prominent Pecos Valley resident, died yesterday in Phoenix, Arizona. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 PM at Moore Funeral Home in Phoenix, after Thursday’s service was postponed. He had lived in Phoenix in recent years.
