BLM extends comment window amid local coordination concerns
The BLM lengthened a 90 day comment period by 30 days to May after objections from Coalition 2.0 and others, receiving 3 354 remarks from February to May. Corn worries the agency will not collaborate with local governments despite officials meeting about the Carlsbad Resource Management Plan affecting Eddy Lea and parts of Chaves County. The agency touts increased transparency and public involvement while planning across ecosystems and integrating science. Community groups in California, Montana and Colorado support the changes, while Corn pledges continued pressure to ensure local governments retain their cooperative role in land use decisions.

New Mexico Health System to Trim Over 500 Jobs
University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center will cut more than 500 positions due to state budget cuts and revenue losses. Chancelor Dr. Paul Roth told lawmakers that most losses affect unfilled planned staff expansions and the rest will come from attrition at roughly 8 to 10 percent yearly. Targeted cuts include 33 doctors, 174 nurses, 167 hospital staff, and 132 academic staff across medicine, nursing, and pharmacy programs and related research and education units.
