Pearl Harbor survivors mark 69th anniversary at new center
About 120 survivors gathered in Hawaii for the 69th anniversary ceremony. Mer Resler, 88, recalled firing on Japanese planes from the USS Maryland and witnessing a shipmate's death. A missing man formation honored the dead of the Arizona and the 2,400 fallen service members. The new $56 million Pearl Harbor Visitor Center opened after the old facility, overwhelmed by visitors, sank into the ground.
