Rumsfeld rules out lenient fate for Omar in Afghanistan
Defense Secretary Rumsfeld rejected any plan allowing Taliban leader Mullah Omar to remain free or live in dignity in Afghanistan. He said the United States will not tolerate arrangements that conflict with eliminating al Qaida and preventing Afghanistan from again harboring terrorists. He noted no confirmed deal with Omar and warned U S interests must guide any settlement.
