Artesia Woman Injured When Auto Hits Train

Two women were injured in Lovington when a car struck a Texas New Mexico freight train locomotive at a grade crossing. Passengers were Frances Barbara Bailiff 36 of Artesia and her mother Kathryn Olive Andrews 52 of Denver City Texas. Bailiff suffered a fractured left arm cuts bruises and possible internal injuries. State policeman Otis Haley said the car struck the locomotive 12 to 15 feet from the front end.

Bandit Abducts Girl After Assault Near Toronto

Scarboro Township police report 19 year old James Wilson robbed and knocked unconscious by a masked bandit who then abducted his 17 year old girlfriend Marion Joan MacDowell. Wilson was treated for head injuries. MacDowell remains missing eight hours after the incident on a rural road.
