Washington dispatch says fourteen Indians and their horses were buried in Elk county Nevada’s Temo trenches after a massacre. Cas sia County Idaho prosecutor T Bartley Lee asks the Justice Department for aid to capture alleged white horse thieves. Informants include three Indians whose families were killed. Rumors surfaced last July in Albion Idaho amid limited Nevada police action.

Runaway Coal Wagon Causes Brief Alley Excitement
A Roswell Wool and Hide coal wagon team ran away in a twenty foot alley behind the Roswell Creamery. The wagon struck a city sprinkler, releasing a horse from the Dilley Furniture Company and upsetting a wagon on a Wool and Hide horse. No injuries or major damage occurred beyond broken sprinkler apparatus.

The Roswell council met in regular session with all members present except Reid and Davis. A unanimous report extended the Main street sidewalk widening to June 1. The body discussed water and sewer leadership changes, issued permits for a gun club trap area and a ce ss pool, and approved a building permit for an iron clad warehouse. The mayor was to negotiate a boulevard solution to the west side jog in the city limits, with strips exchanged to form a continuous 60 foot street. The meeting recessed with the mayor out of town.

Conservatives Fail To Eliminate Recall In Arizona Convention
The Arizona constitutional convention Tuesday failed to remove the recall from the constitution after a day of clashes with Democrats. Senator Bailey and Governor Sloan were attacked. Bailey advised against adding the recall and initiative to the constitution, citing federal opposition and possible congressional disapproval. A resolution condemning Sloan for allegedly misquoting was defeated, and the recall was adopted by 38 to 9.
