Court upholds whistleblower's complaint at Los Alamos
The U S Labor Department Administrative Review Board upheld Joe Gutierrez's 1997 complaint that Los Alamos National Laboratory retaliated against him after he went public with evidence the lab lied about airborne radioactive emissions in the mid 1990s. The board ordered $49 000 in attorney fees a retroactive salary increase and removal of negative comments from a performance review.

Man sentenced for hate crime in New Mexico shooting
Santa Fe state district judge Stephen Pfeffer sentenced Andres Lopez of Cuartelles to three years in prison for a hate crime shooting. Lopez, 60, used a SES assault rifle to shoot at a Mexican neighbor and his son, wounding the boy slightly, after expressing hate for illegal immigrants for 50 years.
