A multijurisdictional task force arrested 36 people in Operation Wrap-Up. Warrants served on 30, six more arrested, with six outstanding warrants. Seven firearms and 9.5 pounds of methamphetamine heroin and marijuana valued at about 15000 were seized. The raid involved 14 agencies and took place after months of planning.
Applebee s on North Main hosts a breakfast fundraiser for the Animal Welfare Alliance. Volunteers serve pancakes sausage coffee and orange juice at five dollars a plate from 7 to 9 a.m. to fund spay and neuter work for cats and dogs with a past turnout of 100 to 150 diners.
Roswell police investigated three drive by shootings Tuesday night. Two incidents on East Bonney Street involved several rifle shots hitting a home and nearby property. A third shooting on East Alameda damaged a vehicle door and fender. Leroy Acosta, 31, is wanted for attempted murder tied to a separate November 1 shooting. Danielle McClain, 22, was arrested at the Bonney Street site and charged as an accessory.
Terri Werckman started a Roswell chapter of The Compassionate Friends to support families grieving a child. Meetings are the first Thursday of each month from 7 to 8 30 p m at the Roswell Adult Center 807 North Missouri Ave. The group offers comfort and understanding to parents grandparents siblings and other relatives affected by a child's death.
The 1895 cast iron bell at First Baptist Church in Roswell is restored and to ring at 4:30 p.m. December 24. Bible study members revived the bell once idle and corroded with help from a local handyman. The bell first rang at the church’s 1895 groundbreaking and will be rung by one member from each Bible study group before a candlelight service.
