A Roswell survey finds mixed interest in cabinet posts under President-elect Carter. Of 100 contacted, 44 said no, 24 maybe, 13 yes, and 19 had no opinion. Gov. Jerry Apodaca tops New Mexico wish lists with 53 supporters.
President elect Carter said he is taking his time naming Cabinet members and will keep Plains life style. he discussed early nominees for attorney general and Treasury, and confirmed Cyrus Vance as secretary of state and Bert Lance to head OMB. He noted Camp David plans are uncertain and emphasized returning to Plains after elections.
Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital Alamogordo administrator T D Smith notes expensive new medical equipment and higher material and labor costs push hospital charges. He cites daily room rates rises from 55 to 85 and ER fees from 15 to 25. ENM Medical Center official James D Agostino adds government intervention and salaries drive costs. average stay 4.13 days at 542.12 dollars with national averages higher. The NM Hospital Association coordinates a shared purchasing program with 43 member hospitals to curb costs.
