Olvia M. C. Stone, who killed the man she loved and was acquitted, pleaded to be allowed to die. Found near death from bichloride of mercury poisoning, doctors had to strap her to an ambulance cot before she could be given an antidote. “Everything that was dear to me has gone from my life,” she cried during the ordeal.
Washington Dec 2 Hearings in the impeachment proceeding against Attorney General Daugherty may be postponed indefinitely. Rep Keller Minnesota Republican, who filed fourteen charges, seeks more time to prepare. The deliberations were to begin Monday.
Fairfield Texas December 2. Sheriff Mayo reportedly killed Terry Grayson uncle of the Negro J L Johnson whom posses are seeking after an alleged assault on the sheriff s wife. Mayo is said to be leading a large posse in the woods. Deputies deny the report and say no violence is expected and no lynching anticipated.
In Lausanne Switzerland on December 2 the conference stalled over Straits Mogul oil concessions and European frontiers. Officials announced a six week recess starting December 15 to allow Turkish leader Ismet Pasha to consult Angora on the disputes. In Austin Texas on December 2 Assistant Attorney General L C Sutton, at Governor Neff request, prepared a joint resolution to call a constitutional convention as the legislature convenes January 9.

Roswell high school football completed its second straight season without being scored upon, a unique record. In 1922 they scored 238 points with zero by opponents, and in 1921 they tallied 226 with opponents at nil. Over three years under coach J D Shinkle they lost only two games and produced four of five players who moved to college teams. The team also claimed the state championship and earned praise for sportsmanship. The 27 to 14 Thanksgiving defeat of El Pasohigh by Albuquerque helps Roswell stake claim as the best high school team in the southwest.
The Chamber of Commerce holds a Tuesday 7:30 meeting to discuss what can be done in the next two years. The program divides into five or six groups with expert leaders, delivering ten minute talks to condense plans into a clear briefing for members. All members are urged to attend.
Corner 4th and Penn lists Sunday schedule with morning service at 11 and evening sermon at 7 45. A special Thursday prayer meeting plans for global foreign mission work with Rev. Sadie M. Lewis. The Elk's Lodge Roswell No 969 announces the annual lodge of sorrow service to honor members who have passed away. The event is held Sunday at 2 pm in the club rooms with invocation, songs, memorial oration by Judson G Osburn, and tributes led by Captain Burnham and Mrs R C Campbell. The committee D W Gudakunst R M Parsons and R C Campbell say there will be ample accommodations for all attendees.
Residents urged to burn leaves immediately after a public appeal. By eight this morning most neighborhoods showed smoke as Roswell sought to clear unsightly and dangerous piles. An inspection at noon found two neighborhoods lagging, with plans for further reduction by Monday.
