Martinez Wins Nomination For NM House Speaker

Rep. Walter Martinez of Grants was nominated for a fourth term as speaker of the New Mexico House after a 97-21 caucus vote by House Democrats in Santa Fe. His opponent, Rep. Richard J. Kloeppel, drew support from southern Democrats. final selection occurs Jan. 18 with all 70 members voting.

Las Cruces firm wins low bid for ENMAR project

Mesa Construction of Las Cruces bids 442 995 to renovate former Air Force barracks No 748 into a major Roswell vocational center. Seven bids were opened with high at 495 794 and second low at 443 440 by Cillesson Construction of Albuquerque. Regental and BEF approvals required as bid exceeds earlier estimates.

Governor Apodaca Named as Carter Interior Secretary Candidate
