The final candidate Kenneth Young will be interviewed by the Roswell City Council in a 3 p.m. workshop at City Hall with public access. The council plans an executive session on Sept. 2 to discuss candidates, then a Sept. 9 recommendation for council approval.

Steve Elrod recalls Elvis Presley as a friendly neighbor who lived across the street in Memphis and visited Graceland in public with less paparazzi than today. Elrod details Graceland apartments nearby and Elvis riding motorcycles and horses at Graceland and Circle G ranch in Walls Mississippi.
A Chaves County man was beaten and stabbed by two masked suspects at Cheyenne II Dairy after firing one of them. Deputies recovered the weaponry at 1509 Lipan Road. Ismael and Esequiel Chairez were arrested in connection with the attack. The victim, 35, was hospitalized in stable condition.
A Roswell man, Shay Dickinson, 49, was found not guilty on all six charges after two jury trials in the 5th Judicial District. He had pleaded no contest to molestation involving three sisters aged 2, 4, and 7, with the mother present, and faced up to 81 years in prison and $75,000 in fines.
