John Williams aged 38 fell from a trapeze connected to a parachute when it opened at Red House Park near Capitola Illinois, twelve hundred feet above ground. He was killed instantly.
As an aero naut prepared to ascend, Williams rushed the apparatus and cried goodbye. He seized the trapeze, lost his grip when the parachute began to fill, and fell to the ground. The aeronaut was not injured.
In Logansport Indiana Aug 28 a collision between an excursion train and a freight on the Pennsylvania road in the yards near town left one man dead another fatally injured and several passengers badly hurt Fireman Walter Eversole was crushed beneath the engine and engineer Grady had both legs severed about four hundred passengers aboard the excursion train suffered injuries of varying severity in the incident.
H. P. Hobson celebrated his 90th birthday last Friday at the cold storage plant with a small group of friends. The party featured several big watermelons cut for the occasion. Guests included J. M. Nelson E. W. Mitchell E. R. Reed and Judge Patton.
The remains of Mrs B F Daniels, who died in Boulder Colorado, will arrive this afternoon. The funeral, under the Woodmen's Circle, is set for tomorrow morning at ten o'clock.

Mrs. R. T. Hunt and her five children Eva Trene Ray mond and Robert are due this afternoon from Danville Va to join Mr. Hunt in making their home here. R. T. Hunt has been in the area since April 1 and his eldest son J. Fred Hunt has been here for some time. Fred has not seen his mother and siblings for three and one half years.

Misses Esther and Anna Schrock left Roswell Saturday for Artesia, accompanied by hostess Miss Bertie Carlton who will return visit them briefly. Rev. Wm Semple and Fay Young, from Eldorado Springs and Jasper county, left last night for Carlsbad after several days in Roswell. They will travel up the valley stopping at towns to view sights as they search for a location. A J Hill came back Saturday from a two months business and pleasure trip to Texas and Old Mexico.
An ad seeks a 16 year old boy not attending school to apply at the Kemp Lumber Co Record Office. The firm on East Fourth Street advertises building materials and promises to please builders. Also notes society teas and mentions Judge Emmett Patton visiting his ranch near Hagerman on Sunday.
