A Colfax County wildcat drilled by Continental Oil Co. No. 1 St. Louis Rocky Mountain and Pacific hit granite at 5,185 feet and was abandoned. Continental still has three wells drilling in the area and Magnolia has one. The El Paso attorney Louis M. Prager was killed along with his wife Mrs. Louis M. Prager and Myron Prager in a collision on U S Highway 54 north of Newman New Mexico. William Clark Snow also died and Cpl Antonio Montano of Florida New Mexico was injured not seriously. The trio were en route to Ft Bliss when their car rear ended a National Guard truck. The Prager family survivors include two daughters Sidney and Nicky and other relatives. Mrs Prager was active in Red Cross Gray Ladies and civic groups.
