Ambassadors Visit Saline Plant East of Roswell
Nineteen ambassadors from foreign nations will tour the saline water conversion plant east of Roswell with officials including Stewart Udall and Clinton P. Anderson. The visitors, joined by White House aides and members of the U.S. Information Agency, will view the plant from 9:30 to 11 a.m. guided by local Office of Saline Water representative Bill Stamper.

Du Pont Plant Blast Kills Four Injures Eighteen
A series of twenty three explosions at the Du Pont synthetic rubber plant near Louisville produced flames and smoke. Four workers are reported dead and at least eighteen injured as blasts rattled the area and forced evacuations within a three mile radius. The plant employs about two thousand and the first explosions occurred around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters faced extreme heat hindering gas valve controls.

Man's Death Investigated In Las Cruces Motel
Las Cruces police investigate the death of 36 year old Bernie Vidlar whose body was found in a Yucca Courts motel room. A .22 pistol lay in his hand and two bullet wounds were in his head but no evidence of foul play was found. An autopsy estimated death 8 to 12 hours prior. An inquest jury will determine the cause.

US Navy Phantom Jet Downed 90 Miles South of Hanoi
An AP report says a U.S. Navy Phantom jet was downed near Hanoi by what appeared to be a surface to air missile. One crewman is presumed dead and the other missing, following Tuesday’s incident about 90 miles south of the city.
