Santa Fe New Mexico August 25 1935 The state board of finance approved 10 percent budget cuts totaling about 16000 for four self supporting divisions of the Bureau of Revenue motor vehicle drivers license income tax and gasoline tax to be in effect for the next four months H R Rodgers director general warned the state police face a critical lack of funds before January 1 and suggested a voluntary 10 percent cut Albany with other budget actions the board deferred a decision on a proposed 55000 bond issue for a women's dormitory and 60000 for a student recreational center at the State College approved a sound track purchase for the health department denied restoring the ten percent cut for the State Teachers College approved buying a car for New Mexico University president James Zimmerman Roswell to buy a fire truck without bids with written bids submitted to the board and approved land purchase 3250 for Manuelito Park near Gallup.

Washington Aug 25 Officials of the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee will launch a three month campaigning tour in September to back 1940 House candidates. Chairman Ditter of Pennsylvania and secretary Venable will visit every state with Republican potential, excluding the solid south. Ditter says the campaign starts now and will continue until the next election. He will not seek the presidential nomination and cites encouraging reports from industrial and agricultural sectors as well as from midwestern states Indiana Illinois Ohio Iowa and Kansas indicating possible Republican House gains.
