Chaves County could miss part of $98,000 in federal transit funds if an application is not submitted by Monday. The U S Department of Transportation Non-urbanized Area Public Transportation Program would deliver $600,000 to New Mexico next year for public transit in communities like Roswell, with the southeastern region receiving the largest share.
Chaves County and Roswell propose extraterritorial zoning to create a two mile buffer around the Roswell Industrial Air Center and limit new development to five acre lots outside protected zones.
