Prominent Charleston Widow Murdered in South Hills Home
Mrs. Walter E. Clark the Charleston Daily Mail principal owner was found beaten and shot to death in her Staunton Road residence. An autopsy cited multiple skull fractures from blows. The 59 year old widow left a two year old grandson in the house. Police named Chief Dewey Williams and assistant prosecutor Herbert W. Bryan lead investigators.

In El Paso Texas authorities arrested James Crabtree of Whitespur on charges of wild game possession and bringing game into Texas after horses were stolen from the Bob Beasley ranch in the Organ Mountains east of Las Cruces.
