13-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Farm Tank Southeast of Roswell
Pamela Bradley, 13, of 211 E. Summit, drowned Friday in a stock tank on the Pirtle Farm near Roswell after reportedly walking onto a plank that gave way. Witnesses said she fell into about seven to eight feet of water. rescue attempts failed and she died from accidental drowning at St. Marys Hospital. Her companions Christina Aragon, Helen Avila, and Cecilia Trujillo were present, with Pirtle relatives aiding rescue.

Corky Hare led the Chaves County 4-H Achievement Day Horse Show at the Eastern New Mexico State Fairgrounds south of Roswell, taking two firsts and two seconds.
