Funeral for Ale Gail S. Yountz 31 held at Valley Mortuary. burial planned in Columbia City Indiana. Yountz died Thursday after admission Wednesday following bulbar polio. emergency operation failed to save him. survived by widow Dorothy and mother Wanda S. Yountz. Walker officials report two other mild polio cases in base community and note a vaccinated status gap for Lola R. McCarter and child William W. Josephson Jr.
Openings in the Republican National Convention in San Francisco feature morning and afternoon sessions with music, flag salute, invokes, and addresses. Leaders include Mayor George Christopher Gov. Goodwin Knight and senators Kuchel Knowland with keynote Langlie. campaign committees named and slogan contest winner announced.
Adlai Stevenson approved an air and whistle stop campaign spanning key states with a Sept 12 Detroit opener eyed and a Sept 13 national TV address. Harry S. Truman and Estes Kefauver would join, Finnegan outlined plans as Stevenson’s HQ plans shift to Washington.
The AFL-CIO COPE endorsed a wide slate of New Mexico candidates, including 11 Republicans, while withholding a governor race endorsement. Democratic contenders dominated, with endorsements in most state races except the Mechem Simms contest and the secretary of state race.
Headon crashes outside the state claim four New Mexico residents. In-state deaths include Alfonso Landavazo and his wife near Redwood City California, Virginia Waterhouse and her infant near Anthony Texas line, Margaret MacMillan near Alamogordo, Antonio Benavidez near Albuquerque, and Donald Vidal west of Gallup. The toll now stands at 242 for the year.

Mitchell reported the caucus ratified a state convention resolution, though not binding, as Ed Mechem arrived for a buffet and NM dinner. Mitchell, in SF, led the delegation chairmanship and said the committee’s work appears finished.
Randolph Fenton was driving behind a panel truck on Charles Street when a hive burst free, releasing bees into his car. He suffered stings on his face head neck hands and arms and was treated at Union Memorial Hospital.
Gov. Arthur B. Langlie arrives in San Francisco on Friday and is set to give the keynote speech this afternoon. He reportedly developed a sore hand from shaking hands with numerous supporters since his arrival.

Highway committees request discussion of priorities on NM 13 YO Crossing NM 48 Pine Lodge road serving large ranch territory in deplorable condition. Appeals to the state highway commission have been without reply.
Fifteen countries lined up behind the American plan at the 22 nation Suez conference as Secretary of State Dulles prepared a written proposal with Britain and France. The plan aimed at international canal control and negotiations with Egypt under Nasser, not an ultimatum. Russia India Indonesia and others were undecided or opposed.
In Williamsport Penn the 10th annual Little League World Series opens with eight teams. Action starts tomorrow at 5 30 p m Eastchester New York meets Delaware Township New Jersey. First round games include Hamtramck Michigan vs Colton California Auburn Alabama vs Winchester Massachusetts and Upper Darby Delaware Two. The Thursday semi finals pair winners and the remaining matchup features Auburn or Winchester vs Upper Darby or Roswell. The Thursday losers contest the consolation trophy at 11 a m and the series final is at 3 p m Friday.
