IRS breach bigger than first thought victims rise to 334K
The IRS says the Get Transcript system breach affected about 334,000 taxpayers, more than doubling prior estimates. Thieves started in November and accessed data from about 610,000 individuals, with 334,000 confirmed as victims. The agency will mail notices to around 220,000 and offer credit monitoring and a special filing ID.
