Chanel Shadowed as Nazi Agent in New History
Paris based historian Hal Vaughan argues in Sleeping with the Enemy that Coco Chanel served as an Abwehr spy and anti Semite during World War II. He cites archival material from the United States Britain Germany and Italy claiming Chanel recruited by the Nazis and involved in anti Jewish expropriation schemes. Chanel Ltd disputed the claims saying the book should be read with caution and that they have not studied it. Holocaust survivor groups urged independent verification of the allegations.
